Description
Center for Global Change Science and MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change seek a development officer to join an exciting research environment with a focus on sponsor retention and the recruitment of new sponsors from industry and other sources to support an interdisciplinary center that focuses on research that informs policy action on climate change and sustainability. Will maintain relationships with existing sponsors; advise management on sponsor relations and the broad interests of existing and potential sponsors; work with faculty, research staff, and communications staff; and serve as primary contact for existing and potential sponsors. Responsibilities include devising strategies to identify resource development opportunities, advising management on sponsor recruitment activities, maintaining a database of these activities, proposing innovative funding approaches, and developing and overseeing the development of materials to be used for recruitment activities; interacting with other MIT entities (e.g., Industrial Liaison Program, Resource Development) to keep abreast of related efforts to advance recruitment efforts; developing an understanding of the research program for the purpose of speaking knowledgeably of it to existing/potential sponsors; and participating in planning and executing forums, workshops, and other activities geared toward engaging industrial sponsors.
