The Jameel Index for Food Trade and Vulnerability — a project supported by Community Jameel — will study the implications of climate change on food security as they relate to trade (J-WAFS)
Today the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) at MIT announced a new research project, supported by Community Jameel, to tackle one of the most urgent crises facing the planet: food insecurity.

Recent studies suggest that electric vehicles may not eliminate all emissions even by 2050, particularly those related to mining and battery production (TRENDS MENA)
Quotes:
“While in most cases electric cars have lower lifecycle emissions than conventional cars with internal combustion engines, they are not exactly zero-emission vehicles. Emissions may be released at the power source of the electricity they use as well as during the stage of car...

With over 200 published papers, multiple books, and countless media appearances, Emanuel’s 41 years at MIT have been marked by influential research into hurricane formation and climate change outreach
Kerry Emanuel once joked that whenever he retired, he would start a “hurricane safari” so other people could experience what it’s like to fly into the eye of a hurricane.
“All of a sudden, the turbulence stops, the sun comes out, bright sunshine, and it's amazingly calm. And you're in...

The world’s third largest carbon emitter after China and the U.S., India ranks seventh in a major climate risk index. Unless India, along with the nearly 200 other signatory nations of the Paris Agreement, takes aggressive action to keep global warming well below two degrees Celsius relative to...

![MIT researchers demonstrate that over 50 percent of the world’s population would still be exposed to PM2.5 concentrations that exceed new air quality guidelines due to the large natural sources of particulate matter — dust, sea salt, and organics from vegetation — that still exist in the atmosphere when anthropogenic emissions are removed from the air. MIT research highlights the opportunity to rethink global air quality guidelines
Alongside climate change, air pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats to human health. Tiny particles known as particulate matter or PM2.5 (named for their diameter of just 2.5 micrometers or less) are a particularly hazardous type of pollutant. These particles are produced from a...

Direct air capture (DAC) technologies extract carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from the atmosphere. DAC and other carbon-removal technologies may play a key role in global and national efforts to achieve net-zero emissions economies in which the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere is...
