soapboxInspired by the response to MIT Museum's popular Rivers of Ice exhibition and ongoing public concerns about the role of science in current political campaigns and policies, the Museum is holding a soap box series of events on climate change.

The Joint Program on Global Change is proud to be part of this series. On Tuesday, October 16th, the program's co-director, John Reilly will be the featured speaker. The event - Is America Profiting from Climate Change? - will focus on the short-term, long-lived, local, and global effects of our everyday environmental and economic decisions.

sternman The first event on October 2nd featured John Sterman, MIT Professor of Management and Director of the System Dynamics Group. On the eve of the first presidential debate, he discussed what happens when we elect policymakers who won’t talk about science. View his talk here.

The last in the series will feature Nathan Black, French Environmental Fellow at Harvard University Center for the Environment. His talk - Heat and Violence - will focus on the link between climate change and civil unrest. It will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
