MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) and the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change seek a RESEARCH SCIENTIST-ENVIRONMENTAL/AGRICULTURAL ECONOMIST to lead research on the economics of global change. Will develop a research agenda and execute studies on the environmental impacts of agricultural development, land use, and related environmental impacts of agriculture and the impacts of environmental change on agriculture, land-use, and related economic sectors and natural resource systems; pursue funding to support the research; and organize and oversee an interdisciplinary research team. Will work with a Joint Program interdisciplinary team and with research experts elsewhere. Responsibilities include developing a world-class research portfolio in key areas of environmental/agricultural economics as it relates to global change issues; conducting applied research involving computational modeling of the global economy, methodological development, analysis and interpretation of results, scholarly publication, and disseminating findings; identifying funding opportunities and initiating/developing research proposals; assembling and leading research collaborations; organizing and overseeing cooperative research involving MIT researchers and affiliates, postdocs, visiting scholars, students, and collaborators at other organizations; and contributing to a wide-range of multidisciplinary research being conducted at the Joint Program.
The MIT Joint Program is devoted to the integration of social science, natural science, and policy analysis as applied to global environmental issues including climate change.
